Rick Culley, Ph.D.

LAS VEGAS / FOUNDING FAMILY
Rick Culley was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. Both his parents have a historic connection with Las Vegas. His mother, Virginia Chavez, arrived in the early 1920s with her family, recognized not only as one of the earliest Hispanic families but a founding family of Las Vegas. Rick’s father, Paul E. Culley, came to Las Vegas in 1931 to work on the construction of Hoover Dam. When the dam opened, he was hired by the Bureau of Reclamation as a “Rigger.” Paul was very actively involved in the community until his untimely death in 1962. The Paul E. Culley Elementary School was named in his honor.
Following his parents’ example of commitment to community, Rick actively supports the Paul E. Culley School by doing volunteer work with the Principal, as well as coaching, and conducting training for teachers, administrators, and support staff. In addition, Rick has done volunteer work with Bishop Gorman High School, The Jewish Federation, the Las Vegas and Henderson, NV, Chambers of Commerce, First Med Health and Wellness Center, and Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada.
